I can see clearly
If I close my eyes
Let my mind go
Loose the ties
That keep me bound
To the "real" world
I see love
A golden thread
Woven through the universe
Showing the beauty
Of every living thing
Harmony, peace
Fragile thing, though
Easily lost
In the mad tarantella
That is called life
By those who do not see
Logical, rational
Imagination suspended
Power, wealth
I close my eyes
And choose love

Very nice, Nina! As with any good poem, I'm going to have to read this several times before I even begin to understand it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Just let it flow -- it's a stream of consciousness thing and should leave a simple thought, nothing complicated.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's real
ReplyDeleteI'm losing my best friend
I really feel
This could be the end
I can't believe it's happening
I can't believe she went away
Now I am alone and crying
For this is the price I must pay
I built walls
To keep from feeling
I ignored her calls
Her begging and pleading
Her friends all said
She was too good for me
Till she at last left my bed
Leaving me in freakish agony
Yesterday I was not so forlorn
Yesterday our love was young
Her taste was warm
And sweet upon my tongue
If I had those days now
Like gold upon my fingers
But I didn't know how
I didn't give thanks for her
Now my nights are lonely and cold
And my days full of fear
If only I had been bold
If only she was near
